15 Encouraging Bible Verses for Women

Life as a woman comes with unique challenges.

You balance multiple roles, carry heavy emotional loads, face pressures about appearance and worth, and wrestle with questions about your purpose.

The world offers plenty of advice about what makes a woman valuable: career success, physical beauty, relationship status, the ability to do it all.

But God’s Word tells a completely different story about who you are and what makes you truly valuable.

These 15 Bible verses speak directly to your heart.

They address your fears, affirm your worth, strengthen your faith, and remind you that God sees you, knows you, and has equipped you for everything He’s called you to do.

1. You Are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

Psalm 139:14 (KJV)

You are not an accident. God designed every part of you with intentionality and care. The Hebrew word for “fearfully” means with reverence and awe, while “wonderfully” means distinguished and set apart.

When you look in the mirror and see flaws, God sees His handiwork. Your value doesn’t come from meeting society’s standards; it comes from being created in God’s image.

2. God Gives You Strength and Dignity

“Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.”

Proverbs 31:25 (KJV)

This verse describes the Proverbs 31 woman, but it’s a picture of what God offers every woman who trusts Him. Strength and dignity are garments God clothes you with.

When you belong to God, He covers you with His strength for today and His dignity that cannot be taken away. You can face the future without fear because your identity and worth are secure in Him.

3. You Can Do All Things Through Christ

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Philippians 4:13 (KJV)

Paul wrote these words from prison, explaining that he’d learned contentment in every circumstance. The “all things” refers to whatever God calls you to do, whatever circumstances He allows.

When you face a challenge that seems too big, when you’re stretched past your comfort zone, Christ gives you the strength you need. Not your own willpower, but supernatural power from the One who lives in you.

4. God Has Not Given You a Spirit of Fear

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

Fear is not from God. Anxiety, worry, and timidity do not come from your Heavenly Father. Instead, He’s given you power, love, and a sound mind.

The Greek word for “power” is dunamis, from which we get “dynamite.” God has placed explosive power within you through the Holy Spirit. When fear whispers that you’re not enough, remember whose Spirit lives in you.

5. God Will Help You at Break of Day

“God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.”

Psalm 46:5 (KJV)

The phrase “right early” literally means “at the break of dawn.” When you face the darkest night, when troubles seem overwhelming, God promises to help you when morning comes.

You will not be moved. You will not fall. Help is coming with the dawn. God’s mercies are new every morning.

6. You Are God’s Workmanship

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”

Ephesians 2:10 (KJV)

The Greek word for “workmanship” is poiema, from which we get “poem.” You are God’s poetry, His work of art, His masterpiece. He created you in Christ Jesus for specific good works that He planned before you were born.

You’re not here by accident. Your life has purpose and meaning. The challenges you face, the experiences you’ve had, the gifts and abilities you possess—God is weaving all of it together for the good works He prepared specifically for you to accomplish. Your life matters more than you know.

7. Be Strong and Courageous

“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

Joshua 1:9 (KJV)

God spoke these words to Joshua as he prepared to lead Israel into the Promised Land. Joshua faced a massive, terrifying responsibility. But God didn’t just encourage him; He commanded him to be strong and courageous.

Courage is not the absence of fear. It’s moving forward despite fear because you know God is with you. Wherever you go, whatever you face, whomever you encounter, God goes with you. His presence guarantees that you have everything you need to do what He’s called you to do.

8. Cast All Your Anxiety on Him

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

1 Peter 5:7 (KJV)

Women often carry the emotional weight of everyone around them. You worry about your children, your marriage, your aging parents, your finances, your health, your future. The burden becomes crushing.

God invites you to throw all those cares on Him. Not some of them. Not the really big ones. All of them. Why? Because He cares for you personally and deeply. The God who holds the universe together cares about what keeps you awake at night. He’s big enough to carry what’s too heavy for you.

9. God’s Grace Is Sufficient

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)

Paul prayed three times for God to remove his “thorn in the flesh.” God’s answer was not removal but sufficiency. His grace is enough for whatever you’re facing.

You don’t have to be strong enough, smart enough, or capable enough. Your inadequacy creates space for God’s adequacy to shine. Your weakness is not a liability; it’s an opportunity for God to demonstrate His strength.

10. The Lord Is Your Strength and Shield

“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”

Psalm 28:7 (KJV)

You need both strength and protection. God provides both as your strength and shield continuously.

Notice the progression: trust leads to help, help leads to joy, joy leads to praise. When you trust God, He helps you. When you experience His help, your heart rejoices. When your heart rejoices, praise flows naturally.

11. A Woman Who Fears the Lord Shall Be Praised

“Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.”

Proverbs 31:30 (KJV)

This world constantly pressures women about appearance and gaining approval. But God says that charm and beauty are fleeting and ultimately empty. What endures? A woman who fears the Lord.

To fear the Lord means to reverence Him, to take Him seriously, to order your life according to His Word rather than the world’s opinions. This is what makes a woman truly praiseworthy. Not her wardrobe, her achievements, or her Instagram following. Her devotion to God.

12. God Will Instruct and Teach You

“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”

Psalm 32:8 (KJV)

When you don’t know what decision to make, when you’re confused about which direction to go, when you need wisdom for a difficult situation, God promises to instruct and teach you. He will guide you personally.

The phrase “guide thee with mine eye” is beautiful. It’s the way a loving parent guides a child with just a look, with gentle direction rather than harsh correction. God watches over you with loving attention and guides you along the path He’s chosen for you.

13. God Works All Things Together for Good

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

Romans 8:28 (KJV)

Not all things are good. Some things are painful and devastating. But God promises that He works all things together for good for those who love Him.

God is sovereign over every detail of your life, weaving even the difficult threads into something beautiful. Nothing is wasted in God’s hands.

14. Be Anxious for Nothing

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)

Instead of anxiety, God offers prayer with thanksgiving. When you bring your concerns to God with a thankful heart, something supernatural happens.

God’s peace—which transcends human logic—guards your heart and mind. Not the removal of all problems, but supernatural peace in the middle of them.

15. You Are More Than a Conqueror

“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”

Romans 8:37 (KJV)

Paul lists overwhelming trials in the verses before this: tribulation, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, danger, and death. Then he declares that in all these things, believers are more than conquerors through Christ.

Not just conquerors, but more than conquerors. You don’t just survive; you overcome triumphantly. Not in your own strength, but through Christ who loved you. Every challenge you face is an opportunity to experience Christ’s conquering power at work in your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I apply these verses when I don’t feel strong or courageous?

Feelings don’t determine truth. These verses declare what God says about you and promises to you regardless of how you feel. Start by reading them aloud, asking God to make them real in your heart. Memorize one verse at a time. When fear or discouragement comes, speak truth to yourself from God’s Word.

What if my circumstances make it hard to believe these promises?

God’s promises are not dependent on your circumstances; they’re dependent on His character. He cannot lie, and His Word stands forever. Difficult circumstances are often exactly when you most need to cling to these truths. Faith believes God’s Word even when circumstances suggest otherwise.

Can unmarried or childless women apply verses about women?

Absolutely. These verses address womanhood, not marital or parental status. Whether you’re single, married, divorced, widowed, with children or without, young or old—you are a woman created in God’s image with inherent worth and divine purpose. These truths apply to every woman who trusts in Christ.

How often should I read these verses?

As often as you need them. Many women find it helpful to read encouraging Scripture daily, especially during difficult seasons. Some keep favorite verses on their phone, mirror, or desk. Others memorize verses so they’re available instantly when discouragement strikes. Let the Holy Spirit guide you.

Prayer for Women Seeking Strength

Heavenly Father, thank You for creating me as a woman with purpose and value. When I feel weak, remind me that Your strength is made perfect in my weakness. When I’m afraid, help me trust that You have not given me a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. When I question my worth, speak truth to my heart that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Clothe me with strength and dignity. Guard my heart and mind with Your peace. Make me more than a conqueror through Christ who loved me. Help me walk in the good works You prepared beforehand for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
