Everyone is looking for love. Not everyone is looking in the right direction.
The search for romantic love is real, the longing is legitimate, and the Bible takes it seriously.
But Scripture makes a move that most people are not expecting: before it says anything about finding love with another person, it establishes that you have already been found by a love greater than any human relationship can contain.
God loved you first.
That is not a theological warm-up before the relationship advice. It is the foundation on which every other form of love is built.
The person who has not yet received the love of God will search for a human relationship to fill what only God can fill, and they will exhaust every person they find because no one person can carry that weight.
Once that foundation is established, Scripture has a great deal to say about love between people: how it is found, what it looks like, what disqualifies something from being real love, and how to position yourself to receive the genuine thing.
