Confusion is one of the most common spiritual experiences, and one of the least discussed.
People talk about doubt, about grief, about temptation.
But the quiet disorientation of not knowing which way to go, what the right decision is, whether the path you are on is the right one: that experience is everywhere in Christian life and rarely given the serious attention it deserves.
The Bible is not silent about it.
The entire book of Proverbs is structured around the conviction that wisdom and direction are available to those who seek them.
Psalm after psalm records the writer crying out for God to show them the way.
Paul prayed specifically that believers would know what God’s will was.
James promised that wisdom would be given generously to anyone who asked.
The God of the Bible is not a God who hides the path to make the journey more difficult.

Wisdom is not something you generate. It is something you ask for.
God gives generously and without reproach, which means you do not have to earn the right to ask.

Not a general sense of your goodness, though we receive that.
But the specific direction for the specific decision that is in front of us right now.
Give us the wisdom that James said you give generously.
Give us the hearing that Isaiah described.
Make straight the paths that Proverbs promised to the person who acknowledges you in all their ways.
We are acknowledging you right now, in this uncertainty, in this confusion, in this waiting.
We are trusting you.
Show us what Abraham saw: enough to take the next step even without seeing everything that comes after.
