Prayer can begin to feel like sending letters to an address you are not certain anyone lives at.
You pray. Nothing visibly shifts. You pray again. The situation continues as it was.
The silence between the asking and the answering stretches long enough that the question begins to form: is anyone actually hearing this?
Scripture does not ignore that question. It addresses it directly, repeatedly, and from multiple angles.
The answer is not a vague assurance that everything will be fine.
It is a specific theological claim: God hears the prayers of the righteous.
He is not indifferent to the words spoken to him by people who belong to him.
His ears are open. His attention is not divided. His response may not arrive on your preferred timeline, but the prayer itself is received.
First Peter 3:12 puts it with remarkable directness: the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are open to their prayer.
Eyes and ears together. He sees the situation, and he hears what is being said about it. The person praying is not talking into an empty room.
The righteous in Scripture are not the morally perfect.
They are the people who are in right relationship with God through faith, who are pursuing him honestly, who bring their real situations before him without pretense.
The prayer of a righteous person is not the prayer of someone who has earned God’s attention through performance.
It is the prayer of someone who comes to him as they are, through Christ, and speaks.
He is listening.
His Ears Are Open to the Righteous

He sees the situation and hears what you are saying about it.

Near is not the language of a God who processes prayer remotely.
Calling in truth is the condition. It means coming as you actually are.

The need I cannot resolve on my own.
The situation that is still waiting for your response.
Receive it.
And where I do not have words, let your Spirit carry what I cannot articulate.
