The Bible does not operate under the assumption that every government deserves unquestioning obedience.
Romans 13:1 says every person should be subject to the governing authorities because there is no authority except from God.
That verse is real, and it carries weight.

Every Wicked Government in the Bible Eventually Fell
Pharaoh’s government drowned in the Red Sea. Babylon fell in a single night while Belshazzar was drinking from the temple vessels. The Assyrian empire that terrorized the ancient world was dismantled. Rome, which crucified Jesus and executed Peter and Paul, collapsed.
Every government that set itself against God’s purposes in Scripture reached an expiration date, and the expiration was not accidental.
Isaiah 40:23 says God brings princes to nothing. Daniel 2:21 says he removes kings and sets up kings. Proverbs 29:2 observes the result at the ground level: when the wicked rule, the people groan.
The groaning is real. The duration of the groaning is limited by the God who placed a boundary on every kingdom that has ever existed.
