Work is a blessing God designed before sin entered the picture, and faithful labor still carries a sacred purpose for every believer today.
God worked before he rested. Genesis 2:2 recorded that he finished his work on the seventh day and then rested.
The resting came after the working, and the working produced everything visible in the created order.
God modeled labor before he assigned it, and the assignment in the garden was given to Adam before the fall, before the curse, and before work became associated with sweat and thorns.
The original version of work was a gift.
Somewhere along the way, the church started treating work as a necessary inconvenience that funds the spiritual life happening on Sundays.
The Bible never made that separation. Psalm 90:17 asked God to establish the work of our hands, and the prayer treated Monday’s labor as worthy of divine involvement.
Ecclesiastes 3:13 identified finding satisfaction in your toil as a gift from God, placing the enjoyment of work inside the same category as answered prayer and spiritual blessing.

Restore that perspective in me. Let me approach tomorrow’s tasks the way Psalm 90:17 prayed, asking you to establish the work rather than merely survive it.
Where Ecclesiastes 2:24 identified satisfaction in toil as a gift from your hand, open that gift inside the specific work I do this week, because the fulfillment you designed into labor has been buried under the routine and I want it back.
And where Revelation 14:13 promised that the deeds of the faithful follow them into eternity, let the work I produce today carry enough of your involvement that it is worth carrying into the next life.
