A promise from God functions like a seed planted in the ground by someone who controls the weather, the soil, and the harvest date. The germination is guaranteed because the gardener is omnipotent.
Numbers 23:19 settles the foundational question: God is not a man that he should lie. The reason his promises come true is located in his nature, not in circumstances. Circumstances change. He does not.

Where Isaiah 55:11 says your word does not return empty, let me treat the promises I am still waiting on as seeds in the ground rather than words lost in the air, because the one who planted them controls every variable between the planting and the harvest.
