First Timothy 6:12 uses the phrase fight the good fight of faith, and the word fight tells you everything about what holding on actually requires.
Faith is not a hammock. It is a wrestling match.
The thing you believe is under constant pressure from circumstances that contradict it, emotions that undermine it, and a culture that dismisses it.

Holding On to Faith Is What Happens After the Initial Excitement Fades and the Daily Cost Becomes Clear
Hebrews 10:32–35 addresses people who had already suffered for their faith and were now contemplating whether the suffering was worth continuing to absorb.
The writer told them to remember the earlier days when they first believed, when the cost was fresh, and the endurance was fueled by adrenaline.
Then came the critical instruction: do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.
The throwing away is always a temptation. Nobody takes your faith from you at gunpoint. You set it down voluntarily because the weight became more than you wanted to carry on a given Tuesday afternoon.
The erosion is gradual, which is why Hebrews 2:1 warns about drifting. Nobody plans to drift. Drift happens in the absence of deliberate anchoring.
Jude 1:24 promises that God can keep you from falling. John 10:28 says no one can snatch you from his hand. Your grip matters, but the hands wrapped around yours from the other side matter more.

And where Jude 1:24 says you are able to keep me from falling, catch what I am losing hold of before it drops, because the faith I am struggling to carry was given by the same God who promises to preserve it.
