Micah 6:8 lists three things God requires: Do justice, love mercy, walk humbly.
The mercy is the one placed in the middle, flanked by justice on one side and humility on the other.

God’s Kindness Was Never a Temperament. It Was a Strategy.
Romans 2:4 says the kindness of God leads to repentance.
Paul did not say the judgment of God or the wrath of God leads to repentance in that particular sentence. He said kindness.
The kindness was doing something the harsher approaches could not accomplish, because it bypassed the defenses a person builds against condemnation and reached the part of them that still knows what goodness feels like.
The Good Samaritan parable in Luke 10 ends with Jesus asking which man was the neighbor. The answer was the one who showed mercy.
Then Jesus said go and do the same. He did not say go and feel the same.
The mercy was an action performed on a road, with oil and bandages and a donkey and money left at an inn. It had a price tag and a time cost and it interrupted the Samaritan’s schedule.

Where the Good Samaritan interrupted his schedule, spent his resources, and got his hands dirty on a road nobody was watching, give me that same willingness to let mercy cost me something real rather than something theoretical.
And where Psalm 103:10 says you did not treat me as my sins deserved, let that memory stay fresh enough to reshape how I treat the person whose sins I am currently tallying.
