The value of a woman in Scripture is not assigned by culture, relationship status, productivity, or appearance.
It is established by God before any of those categories exist.
This is the first and most important thing to say.
The conversations that surround women’s worth tend to anchor it in external measures: what she contributes, what she looks like, who she is connected to, what role she occupies.
Scripture does something fundamentally different.
It establishes worth at the point of creation, in the image of God, before any human evaluation has a chance to weigh in.
The woman in Scripture is not a secondary figure in a supporting role.
Eve is called the mother of all living.
Deborah leads a nation and is the only judge described as one to whom all Israel came for justice.
Esther saves her people with courage that required risking her life.
Mary carries the Son of God and is the first person to receive the announcement of the resurrection.
Phoebe is called a servant of the church and commended to the entire Roman church by Paul.
Lydia’s household becomes the first church planted in Europe.
The world has spent considerable energy telling women that their value is conditional, provisional, and subject to revision.
Scripture tells a different story with a different author.

Value Established at Creation
1. She Is Made in the Image of God
“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” — ESV, Genesis 1:27
Male and female both carry the image.
The image of God is not a male-specific designation.
2. She Is Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” — ESV, Psalm 139:14
Fearfully and wonderfully made is the description that applies before any other descriptor.
Before role, before relationship, before achievement: wonderful.
3. God Knit Her Together in Her Mother’s Womb
“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.” — ESV, Psalm 139:13
The forming was personal and detailed.
She was not mass-produced. She was made with intention.
4. She Is Known by Name and Called His
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” — ESV, Isaiah 43:1
He knows her name before the world assigned her one.
The claiming is prior to every other relationship.
5. She Is Worth More Than Many Sparrows
“Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.” — ESV, Luke 12:7
Jesus said this to establish the scope of God’s attention to the individual.
If God watches every sparrow, he watches her with at least that much care, and more.

6. Strength and Dignity Are Her Clothing
“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.” — ESV, Proverbs 31:25
The clothing described here is not external.
What she wears is what she is.
7. She Opens Her Mouth With Wisdom
“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” — ESV, Proverbs 31:26
The wisdom is not borrowed.
It is hers, and it comes out in speech.
8. A Woman Who Fears the Lord Is to Be Praised
“Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” — ESV, Proverbs 31:30
The praise that matters is not attached to the qualities that fade.
The fear of the Lord is what outlasts everything else.
9. Her Works Praise Her in the Gates
“Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.” — ESV, Proverbs 31:31
Her testimony is not what she says about herself.
It is what she has built with her hands over time.

10. God Heard Hagar When She Was Forgotten

Hagar was a slave, an outsider, and abandoned.
God sought her out specifically in that condition and gave her a name: the God who sees.

Value is not suspended during seasons of pain.
God’s closeness to the crushed spirit is itself a declaration of how much the person matters to him.
12. She Is Blessed Among Women
“And Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out with a loud voice, ‘Blessed are you among women.'” — ESV, Luke 1:41–42
Mary received this declaration before any visible achievement had been accomplished.
The blessing was spoken over what God had chosen, not over what she had produced.
13. Even If Her Mother Forsakes Her, the Lord Will Not

God used the mother’s love as the extreme example of attachment.

14. Deborah Led All Israel
“Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was judging Israel at that time.” — ESV, Judges 4:4
She judged an entire nation during a season of crisis.
God did not pass over her capacity to find a more expected candidate.
15. Esther Was Placed in the Kingdom for Such a Time
“And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” — ESV, Esther 4:14
Her presence in the palace was not incidental.
God positioned her specifically for the moment that would require everything she had.
16. Ruth’s Loyalty Was Named and Rewarded
“And now, my daughter, do not fear. I will do for you all that you ask, for all my fellow townsmen know that you are a worthy woman.” — ESV, Ruth 3:11
Ruth is called a worthy woman, the same term used for the Proverbs 31 figure.
Her character was recognized before her circumstances improved.
17. The Women Were First at the Resurrection
“Now it was Mary Magdalene and Joanna and Mary the mother of James and the other women with them who told these things to the apostles.” — ESV, Luke 24:10
The first witnesses of the resurrection were women.
In a culture that dismissed women’s testimony in court, God chose them as the first to carry the most important news in history.

18. Husbands Are to Honor Their Wives
“Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.” — ESV, 1 Peter 3:7
The honor is commanded, not optional.
The prayers of the man who does not honor his wife are described as hindered.
19. There Is No Male or Female in Christ
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” — ESV, Galatians 3:28
The equality in Christ is not erased by cultural hierarchy.
In the most fundamental identity category, there is no differentiation.
20. Older Women Are Worthy of the Same Dignity as Elders
“Do not rebuke an older man but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, younger women as sisters, in all purity.” — ESV, 1 Timothy 5:1–2
The older woman is addressed with family honor.

21. She Is a Daughter of the Lord Almighty
“And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.” — ESV, 2 Corinthians 6:18
Daughter of the Lord Almighty is the identity that outlasts every earthly category.
Nothing that happens in this life revises that relationship.
22. Behold, What Love the Father Has Given to Her
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” — NIV, 1 John 3:1
Lavished is the word.
Not allocated. Not distributed proportionally. Lavished.
23. Nothing Can Separate Her From the Love of God

You made me in your image.
You knit me together with intention.
You called me by name and said I am yours.
You placed women at the first resurrection, at the throne of a nation, in the palace of a king.
I want to live like someone who knows these things are true about women.

Restore what was broken by the voices that assigned me lesser value.
And let the truth of being a daughter of the Lord Almighty be the identity I move through the world in.
Nothing can separate me from your love.
