People treat God’s will like a hidden code they need special equipment to crack.
They pray for signs. They wait for feelings. They analyze every coincidence for hidden meaning.
And while they wait for the spectacular revelation, entire chapters of the Bible sit open on their nightstand telling them exactly what God wants in plain language.
First Thessalonians 4:3 starts a sentence with four words that should end the suspense for most of the questions people ask: it is God’s will that you should be sanctified.
Romans 12:2 says a renewed mind can test and approve God’s will.
Micah 6:8 says he has told you what is good. Told. Past tense. The information is already available.
The parts of God’s will that remain hidden are real, and Deuteronomy 29:29 acknowledges them.
But the hidden parts are God’s business. The revealed parts are yours.
And most people who say they cannot figure out God’s will have not yet obeyed the portion of it that requires no figuring out at all.

You Probably Already Know More of God’s Will Than You Have Acted On
Most of the confusion around God’s will exists in the gap between what people want to know and what they have already been told.
A person praying Lord, should I take this job? While ignoring the Bible’s clear teaching on generosity, honesty, or how they treat their spouse, is searching for specific guidance while sidestepping the general guidance already given.
God is under no obligation to hand out new instructions to someone who has shelved the existing ones.
John 7:17 connects willingness to obey with the ability to discern.
The person who is genuinely prepared to do whatever God reveals will find that the revelation comes.
The person who wants God to confirm a decision they have already made is not seeking his will. They are seeking his endorsement, and those are different requests entirely.
Jesus modeled the ultimate posture in Gethsemane. Not my will but yours be done. Every prayer for God’s will starts there, and the people who find it most clearly are the ones who meant it when they said it.
Deuteronomy 29:29 splits the territory cleanly. God keeps some things hidden, and trying to access them is not your assignment. What has been revealed, however, belongs to you, and acting on the revealed portion is usually what unlocks whatever comes next.
