The phrase “you are enough” has become one of the most mentioned in cultural wallpapers.

It appears literally anywhere from mugs and t-shirts to motivational Instagram posts, usually stripped of any foundation that could actually make it true.

If you are enough because you decided you are, the declaration is as unstable as the mood that produced it.

Scripture makes a different claim. You are enough not because of what you bring to the table but because of who placed you at it.

Ephesians 2:10 says you are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works he prepared in advance. The handiwork is his. The preparation is his.

The purpose was determined before you arrived, which means your sufficiency was established by someone who does not revise his assessments based on your last performance review.

Second Corinthians 12:9 adds the dimension that most self-help versions of this message leave out: my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.

You Are Enough Because the One Who Made You Does Not Make Insufficient Things

God did not create you and then realize you were lacking.

Psalm 139:14 says you are fearfully and wonderfully made, and the wonderful is God’s assessment of his own work. He evaluated what he produced and called it wonderful.

The insecurity you carry about whether you measure up is measuring against a standard God did not author. His standard is Ephesians 2:10: you are his workmanship, created for purposes he designed before you existed.

First Corinthians 1:27 says God chose the weak things to shame the strong. The choosing was deliberate. God did not accidentally end up with people who felt insufficient.

He selected them because his power displays most clearly through vessels that cannot claim the results came from their own capacity.

Moses stuttered. Gideon was the least in his family. David was the youngest and was not even invited to the selection process. Jeremiah said he was too young.
